Vertical window blinds are great because
they do not require a lot of maintenance to keep them clean. Because of their
long, downwards-hanging louvres, they are less likely to collect a lot of dust
and dirt as there is not a lot of surface area for it to settle on.
Most vertical blinds these days are
designed using polyester or something similar, which makes them easy to clean
with a damp cloth. If you want to do a deep clean of your vertical blinds then
it is a good idea to unclip your blinds from the rail and concentrate on cleaning
each louvre.
When you are done cleaning your vertical
blinds, make sure to dry them naturally so that they maintain their shape, size
and colouring. If you’ve done a deep clean and your blinds are wet, do not hang
them to dry! This will make all the liquid settle at the bottom of the louvres,
it is a better idea to lay each one down on a clean, flat surface and allow
them to dry like that before hanging them back up again.
The headrail for your vertical blinds and
the connecting chains may be a lot dirtier than you think, so do not forget to
clean these parts. Unclip the louvres from the bracket and wipe it clean with a
damp cloth, you can also use a silicone spray or baby wipes on any mechanisms
or chains. Once everything is dry, hang it back in place.
